Low-Fat Biscotti Recipe

This low-fat biscotti remains flavorful with the inclusion of applesauce.

Low Fat Biscotti Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup applesauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1/2 cup almonds, finely chopped
  • pinch salt

Low Fat Biscotti Directions

  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Combine flour, salt, and baking soda in a small bowl. Set aside. Whisk together eggs, sugar, applesauce and almond extract. Add dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Fold in almonds.
  3. Shape dough into a half-moon shape on a cookie sheet. Bake for 25-35 minutes until lightly browned. Cool for 15 minutes.
  4. Cut loaf into 1 inch slices and lay on cookie sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes more, turning once.
